Floorball a Scandinavian originated game was recently introduced in North America. There is an International Floorball Federation (IFF), which has published the official rules for the game

The simple version of the rules are explained below.

Game area:
Floorball can be played indoors or outdoors, preferably using a rink of size 40 x 20 meters (131 x 65 ft). Height of the surrounding board is 50cm (20"). The goal is 160 cm high and 115 cm wide (45" x 63").

Play time:
The game time is 3 periods, 20 minutes each, with 10-minute intermissions between periods.

Roster:
A team can have a total of 20 players on the roster. 5 field players per team are allowed in the rink and a goalie that plays without a stick. In case of no goalie, the team can play with 6 field players.

Equipment:
Players have a stick, which is 100cm long. The plastic ball with holes weighs 23 grams and its diameter is 7cm (2" 3/4)

Minor or free shot is whistled by the ref in case of:
- holding, checking, blocking or tripping an opponent - hitting, blocking, lifting, pushing down or kicking an opponents stick
- hitting the ball with the stick or foot above knee level
- lifting the stick above waist height
- kicking the ball twice
- touching ball with hand
- jumping up to reach the ball
- passing stick between players legs
- playing with body parts other than feet
